Hawkeyes.

Watching Game Day

This might be a tough year for the Hawkeyes, but we have been showing our support down here in Mizzou country.

On the move.

Charlie hasn't figured out crawling yet but she has a talent for slowly moving herself across the room.  After I changed her diaper I went looking into her closet for an outfit for her to wear and she ended up like this under the crib.

We got a membership to Sam's Club once we moved to Columbia.  I have a hard time passing by the kids toys without showing them to Charlie.  She fell in love with this monkey a couple of weeks ago and I finally gave in this week.

Charlie Monkey.

Somehow we ended up calling Charlie "Monkey".  I think it started out as Chunky Charlie, then Chunky Monkey, and we shortened it to just Monkey or Monk sometimes.  She does everything with her feet and she is a big girl so all of these names have fit her perfectly.  When we were at the University Bookstore I found this book and couldn't resist.  The last picture is a shout out to Rex Van Cleave.

7 months.

My baby girl is 7 months old today.  It is hard to believe.  She seems so grown up all of a sudden.  Charlie loves to talk, mostly saying dada.  She loves to drink water out of straws, listen to her own voice, and smiles at every person she sees.  I think she is going to be a very social girl.  I am so glad that I get to spend all day with her and watch her as she discovers new things.

New toys.

Charlie and I both got new toys when Grandma Julie came to Columbia.  Charlie got a jumperoo and I got a new phone.  We are both enjoying learning how they work.

CF.

Charlie and I had Tuesday, Wednedsay and part of Thursday to be at home in Cedar Falls.  We got to see more family, friends, and do a little shopping downtown CF.  Molly drove from Cedar Rapids on Wednesday to hang out.

Charlie's new favorite thing is to drink out of straws.  At restaurants we have been trying to keep her busy by  having her drink water.  She is usually soaked by the end of a meal but loves it anyway.

Decorah.

Grandma Barb, Charlie and I went to Decorah on Monday to visit her great grandparents.  We went to Luther, Mabe's, the farm, Highlandville, and downtown to all of my favorite shops.  It is always nice to come home.

Iowa vs. UNI

We had such a great long week in Cedar Falls/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/Decorah.  Charlie is completely wiped out from being entertained 24/7  and being thrown off her usual schedule.  We will take awhile to catch up on sleep but it was all worth it.  We missed Paul like crazy and it is good to be home.  Here is Part 1 of our trip.

6 month checkup.

We went to the doctor today for Charlie's 6 month checkup.  She only had to get a flu shot today and has to get the rest in a month.  Everything is going well.  She was 20 lb 12 oz and 27 inches, 95% percentile in weight and 75% in height.  Her nickname is often Chunky Charlie, but I have a feeling she is going to have the last laugh when she is tall and skinny.

Feeling loved.

As a (temporary) stay at home mom it is easy to feel like the work that you do isn't noticed or appreciated.  Charlie isn't old enough to say thank you and Paul is a guy (although a very sweet one).  He does a very good job of bringing me flowers every once in awhile.  It always surprises me.

First tailgate.

Charlie's first tailgate ended up being in Columbia for Mizzou's first SEC game.  It was a beautiful day and we got to hang out with Seth and Kelly at Kelly's family tailgate.   They spent the night after they got back from the game and we went out to breakfast the next morning before they left.  We might have found a new favorite restaurant downtown Columbia.  Teller's Bar has an awesome menu and good atmosphere.  We will have to go back again soon.

Charlie doesn't have any Mizzou stuff yet but her hawkeye gear has the right colors so no one noticed.   The Iowa game was rough to watch.  We are hoping next week is better against UNI!
